PARESH HAZRA: Born in 1952 in Tamluk, Midnapore district of West Bengal, Hazra graduated from the Govt. College of Art, Calcutta with a first class. He obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in the Teaching of Art in 1980. He has had numerous solo shows in Bangalore, New Delhi, Calcutta, Chennai and Pondicherry and his work has been shown abroad in group shows. He is the recepient of many awards, among them the Silver Medal from the Oriental Art Society, Calcutta – 1977, Certificate of Merit, Govt. College of Art, Calcutta – 1987 and the Birla Academy Award, Calcutta – 1990. His work is in the collections of many prestigious organisations and private collections throughout India and abroad. Hazra works mainly with old egg tempera on canvas board, in a figurative style, with brilliant colours and strongtextures. |
