VENKATAPATHY D: Born in 1935 at Vellore, North Arcot Dt.,Tamilnadu. Venkatapathy recieved the tamil nadu state lalit kala akademi award in 1966 even before he acquired his Diploma in Painting from the Govt School of Arts and Crafts, Chennai. He was also the recipient of silver medal from academy of fine arts kolkata in 1964. He was trained in Fresco painting at Banasthali Vidyapeeth Rajastan. He got certificates and Diplomas in Freehand Outline, Model Drawing, Fresco Painting and Painting. He has participated in National exhibitions of art and state academy shows several times including the VII Triennale India in 1991 and Bharat Bhavan Biennale Bhopal in 1986 with more than 50 exhibitions in India and abroad. He has received innumerable awards from Akademis from all over India. He has had many Honours conferred on him, notable being Veteran Artist,and Kalai Chemmal Award. He has also taken part in many Camps and painting has been included in the Osian's autions too recently. His works are in the collections of many galleries, corporates and individuals in India and abroad.
