VENKATAPATHY D: Born in 1935 at Vellore, North Arcot Dt., Tamil Nadu. Venkatapathy received the Tamil Nadu State Lalit Kala Akademi Award in 1966 even before he acquired his Diploma in Painting from the Government School of Arts and Crafts, Chennai. He was also the recipient of a silver medal from the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata in 1964. He trained in Fresco painting at Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan, and completed multiple certifications and diplomas covering Freehand Outline, Model Drawing, Fresco Painting, and Fine Arts Painting.
He has participated in national exhibitions of art and state academy shows numerous times, notably including the VII Triennale India in 1991 and the Bharat Bhavan Biennale, Bhopal in 1986, with a history spanning more than 50 exhibitions across India and international art spaces. He has received innumerable awards from Akademis all over India alongside elite conferred honours, such as the Veteran Artist recognition and the Kalai Chemmal Award. His works have been featured in premier modern sales channels, including recent Osian's art auctions, and are maintained in esteemed corporate, gallery, and individual collections worldwide.
